I had the same problem with the CD – it is as if it is a blank CD.
I am currently downloading the software – which is taking a while too and it’s really bad to have to do this.
I had another HP printer with very dodgy CD rom – thought it was just a once off thing…

paper tray has two small plastic tabs to locate it and hold it into positon on the printer. Lasted about 2 days and both were broken off. Terrible design. Would not recommend for this reason.

Bought it as I had the 5610 which was OK till it stopped faxing and the J4580 was cheap and small.
But this is horrible. No Instruction book, Cartridges impossible to load, Incredibly SLOW and makes a clunking noise. Phone help no good. It does usually receive faxes but havn’t tried scanning – no instructions and the tiny screen is totally non intuitive.
